Maternal Child Health
The Strengthening Families-Maternal Child Health provides a home visitation program to pregnant women and families with young children using a curriculum-based program to foster positive parenting, infant bonding, support breastfeeding, child and language development and safety; and form healthy relationships. Success through advocacy and role modelling (STAR/FASD) mentorship program is to prevent alcohol and/or drug exposure and thereby reducing the number of affected babies through effective relationships with mentors, families and community resources. The Tribal Council Coordinator for MCH and STAR is responsible to work with the community based MCH home visitor and STAR (FASD) mentor to plan for, develop and implement both MCH/STAR (FASD) in the community to promote strong, healthy and supportive families to live a holistic and balanced lifestyle.
